T-Shirt Bras:

Wonderbra, Breathable T-Shirt Bra

A comfortable T-Shirt bra is one of the best purchases a woman can make. Much like a sports bra, the T-shirt bra gives you full coverage and support. The difference between the t-shirt bra and the sports bra are the cups, which give you the separation and single support per breast that some woman with a larger bust may prefer. They are your go-to piece for when you need coverage, comfort, and a sleek non-bump lining under your clothing.

Convertible Bra:

La Senza, Hello Sugar Convertible Bra

A convertible bra is always something good to have as not all of your clothing has covered shoulders. The best type of convertible bra to purchase is one that can accommodate straps as it keeps it multi purposeful. This way you can always add, remove, or readjust your straps to accommodate whatever style you need. I have only ever worn the La Senza Hello Sugar (triple push up) convertible bra. I have tried both the smooth design as shown above, and the all lace Hello Sugar in white. Both bras give you the perfect lift for that open dress, have great support, and stay in place perfectly because of their tighter bands and silicon wrapping inside.

Push-up Bra:

Victoria Secret, 2 Sizes Up Bra Set in Brown lace

I will say now that I am the most avid supporter of the Double/Triple push up bra from any and every designer out there. As a woman with a smaller cup size than I like to admit, I have always stuck to my double push up bras. They are my go-to accessory at all times, making me feel sexier than ever when I feel most down. My favourite designs currently come from the Victoria Secret 2 sizes up collections. They are designed covered with lace, sparkle, and femininity in mind. We suggest a push up bra for small-medium busted woman to have because it will give them that extra lift they want when they want to feel dressed up and seductive in certain styles of dress and undress.

U-Plung Bra:

BellaBellaBoutique, U-Plung Bra

A U-Plung Bra is always a good one to have hanging around, as you never know when you’ll be wearing a deep cut neckline. I prefer to go for a lower plunge than most retailers offer because necklines always vary.

*Side Tip: A good thing to keep in mind when purchasing and owning bras is to always have and use your Bra Wash Bag. These will keep your bras looking like new after each trip to the washing machine. They can be bought in stores like Dollarama, Walmart, or Bed Bath and Beyond. A simple net bag is all you’ll need.

commando lingerie

Commando, Low Rise Thong

When shopping for panties, no matter what style you enjoy to wear most, seamless is something you cannot go wrong with. As it comes in all cuts it is easy to find one that suits your every need. This underwear is great to wear when you don’t want anyone to know you’re wearing underwear, such as under those tight dresses, pants, and pencil skirts.

Triumph, Diamond Jacquard White Thong

Thongs are some of the most convenient panties to own as they do not show under your clothing. They are not only comfortable, but also sexy no matter what they look like. I recently came across a new boutique company  Triumph that has very quickly become my go to place for nice thongs. The material is not only comfortable, but the design is simplistic, feminine, and elegant.

Cotton Bikinis:

Aerie Cotton Bikini; 7 for $27

Cotton Bikinis are the perfect underwear for when your bum just needs to feel like its being hugged. I usually recommend to have about 7-10 pairs alone of these kinds of underwear for when you want to feel comfortable and unrestricted (especially during those not so lovely womanly times of the month). I find these to be the best type of everyday panty as the leg holes are cut higher than other styles, it gives for more free movement and does not cut off your thighs, all while giving you full bum coverage.  They come in a variety of designs and colours making it easier to pair them with a nice bra.

High Waisted:

Change, Pink and Black Lace Panty

High Waisted panties, though finally coming back into style, are extremely hard to find when shopping in stores. They are one of my favourite kinds of panties to own because on days when you’re feeling most bloated they will control those bumps and muffin tops. Sadly, not many companies design any feminine high-waisted lingerie, which is a problem we will later cover. Currently, my go to place for these is a company out of Denmark named Change They can be found in a few locations around Europe and North/South America. As they enjoy mixing materials in their pieces their lingerie not only ends up looking feminine, elegant, and with many pairs simply sexy, but they are also comfortable, and good quality.

Shape wear:

Spanks, Colorblock High Waisted Thong

Shape wear is one of those accessories that everyone hates, but simply can’t live without. For some, high-waisted underwear can be enough to keep a woman’s body looking smooth under her clothing, but for others they prefer a bit more control and thinning. The best shape wear is both pretty, practical, and comfortable. I know sometimes it’s not easy to find all three in one but it is possible. When shopping for shape wear you should always define what it is you want to control and try on a variety of options until you find something that suits your body type best. Depending on the company you buy from, your shapewear can either be made of a tight spandex material, or have boning inside to keep its shape firm.

Hosiery is a great item to always have on hand, it includes: stocking, thigh highs or knee highs. They are feminine, they are practical, and they make every leg barring outfit look a little more seductive. If there is one brand on this post that I truly and highly recommend it is the Gabriella stocking. I have been wearing these stockings for as long as I can remember and I will be loyal until the end. They are amazing quality and the designs are like no other. Ranging from simple and feminine, to seductive and sexy. I recommend that every woman should invest in both a pair of nudes (they range in all nude shades as well as shiny and matte), and black stockings.

When it comes to any of these options I always suggest sticking to the core colours (Black, White, Beige) as they will never go out of style and practicality. However if you’re only looking to get one, you can never go wrong with doing it in beige. Beige is the type of colour that you can wear under everything and it will never show. A lot of companies are now offering different shades of beige making it easier to find one that suits your skin tone best.

I hope this article helps you with your lingerie purchases, both now and in the future. You can also check out our glossary for more details on the different types of lingerie available.
